Interactive Piece

I purchased a regular sized 'Tumbling Tower' set (right) and then printed off my edited images, drew and cut out the correct shapes to stick onto the blocks. I then showed these blocks to Kellie who liked them but said I needed to increase the scale, and I agreed. From there I looked into the price of lumber and the amount I would need to create the larger blocks was not available to me and so I bought 60 blocks for £20, which saved me time as well as money.

After covering the small blocks in my images I covered one in varnish (left) and one in sticky-back plastic (right) to find out which would protect my images the best. The sticky-back plastic protects them the best but creates a reflective layer on the surface so I will use varnish to cover my blocks.

I repeated the covering process for a third of the blocks and then varnished them.

Once I had finished covering and varnishing my larger blocks I began to stack them in different ways and photograph them on black cloth.

I then uploaded the images onto photoshop, resized them to fit an A6 sheet perfectly, lowered the brightness to darken the background, heightened the contrast to bring back the colour on the blocks, and then used the Clone Stamp Tool to get rid of any marks on the background. These images will be printed off to size A6, stuck onto foamboard and then mounted onto the side of the plinth which the blocks placed on.
